Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other sites.
- Your save games stay on your own computer.
- Online play uses Epic Online Services and your Steam or Epic account, so those services handle some data to connect you to other players.
- Email us at [email protected] about anything here.
Who we are
Salty Silicon Games is a small independent game studio run by one person in Missouri, United States. This policy covers our website (saltysilicongames.com) and our games, including Sold As-Is. "We" and "us" mean Salty Silicon Games.
Information we collect
When you play our games
- Save games and settings are stored locally on your computer. We don't upload them.
- Platform account info. If you buy or play through Steam or the Epic Games Store, that store handles your purchase and account. We don't receive your payment details.
- Online and multiplayer play. When you use online features, our games use Epic Online Services (EOS) to sign you in, create lobbies, and connect players. This can involve your Steam or Epic account ID, your display name, a product user ID created by EOS, and network information such as your IP address so players can connect to each other. In peer-to-peer play, other players in your session may be able to see your display name. EOS relays connections to help protect your IP address, but direct connections can expose it to the players you connect to.
- Friends and invites. If you invite or join friends, the platform (Steam or Epic) uses your friends list and presence (for example "in game") to make that work. We don't store your friends list.
When you visit our website
- Our website is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
- We don't use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or tracking pixels on our website.
When you contact us or join our community
- If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, and use it only to reply.
- If you join our Discord server or report bugs there, Discord's own privacy policy applies to your account. We may read and keep bug reports and feedback you post to improve the game.
How we use information
- To run online features: sign-in, lobbies, invites, and connecting players.
- To fix bugs and improve our games, using reports you send us.
- To answer your messages.
- To keep our services secure and prevent abuse or cheating.
- To meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information. Data is only handled by the services that make our games and site work:
- Epic Games, for Epic Online Services and the Epic Games Store: Epic privacy policy
- Valve, for Steam: Steam privacy policy
- Cloudflare, for website hosting and email forwarding: Cloudflare privacy policy
- Discord, if you join our server: Discord privacy policy
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our players or others.
How long we keep it
We keep emails and bug reports only as long as they're useful for support and development. Data held by Epic, Steam, Cloudflare, and Discord is kept according to their own policies.
Your choices and rights
- You can play our games offline without using online features.
- You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected].
- To manage or delete data linked to your Epic account or the EOS game services, see Epic's privacy policy above or contact Epic. You can also manage your Steam account data through Steam.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have extra rights under local law. We'll honor those requests.
Children
Our games and website aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, for example when new online features are added, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
